| | | Posters should be readable by viewers three feet away. Use large print and shade or color block letters when possible. A minimum font size of 28 point and a maximum of 600 words are recommended. The message should be clear and understandable without oral explanation. The following guidelines will help improve the effectiveness of your poster communication. -
Initial Sketch - Plan your poster early. Focus your attention on a few key points that follows the main headings in your abstract typically Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. -
Rough Layout - Enlarge your best initial sketch, keeping the dimensions in proportion to the final poster (see diagram). Ideally, the rough layout should be full size. A blackboard is a convenient place to work. Print the title and headlines. Draw rough graphs and tables. -
Final Layout - The artwork is now complete. The text and tables are typed. Now ask, is the message clear? Do the important points stand out? Is there a balance between words and illustrations? Is there spatial balance? Is the flow from Purpose, Methods, Results and Conclusion easy to follow? -
Balance - The figures and tables should cover slightly more than 50% of the poster area. If you have only a few illustrations, make them large. Do not omit the text, but keep it brief. The poster should be understandable without oral explanation. - Topography - Avoid abbreviations, acronyms, and jargon. Use a consistent font throughout. An 81/2" x 11" sheet of paper enlarged 50% makes the text readable from a distance of three to five feet.
-
Eye Movement - The movement of the eye over the poster should be natural, down the columns or along the rows. Size attracts attention. Arrows, pointing hands, numbers, and letters can help clarify the sequence. -
Simplicity - Resist the temptation to overload the poster. The poster-board surface area is 3'8" high and 5'6" wide. Prepare a 6" high headline strip that runs the full width of the poster. Include the title, authors, and affiliations on the strip in letters not less than 1" high. Post a large-typed copy of your abstract in the upper left-hand corner, including the program number (this is found in the Program and may be entered at the meeting). Remember to leave space on the board for colleagues to leave notes and include an email address for viewers to contact you later. | | | | | | | Posters in the Exhibit Hall Posters will be located in Halls C and D of the Anaheim Convention Center. Each poster board is marked with a unique posterboard number that begins with an A, B, C, or D. This letter indicates the placement of the board within Halls C and D. A and B boards will be in Hall C and C and D boards are located in Hall D. The A, B, C, D designation also corresponds to which Society your poster was submitted under for grouping of Society and topics. -
Posterboards beginning with “A” will include ASN and ASIP. -
Posterboards beginning with “B” will include ASBMB. -
Posterboards beginning with “C” will include ASPET, AAA and Teaching Posters. -
Posterboards beginning with “D” will include APS (including the Microcirculatory Society) EB will provide the posterboard numbers and these are posted on all the boards prior to the hall opening on Sunday morning. DO NOT REMOVE the posterboard numbers or other EB notices from the boards. These numbers are reused on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Because posters are only displayed for one full day and another person is assigned that posterboard for the following day, it is important that you remove your poster at the end of the day before the hall closing. Posters remaining in the Exhibit Hall are discarded. For the exact location of your posterboard, consult the Floor Locator Maps located throughout the exhibit hall. Numbering of the boards (i.e. A1) begins at the far right of Hall C and runs continuously in that section to the back of the hall. Overhead banners are also located above the posterboards indicating the Society posterboards. Please note that the numbering and location of posterboards is changed for Late Breaking posters on Wednesday, April 28. All late breaking posters are indicated with an “LB” with the board number. Lastly, each society has poster sessions that may be located in session rooms in the Convention Center or at the Hilton and Marriott hotels. This is mainly for poster competitions and poster reception events but be sure to check the details in your confirmation letter for the proper location, as not all posters are displayed in the Exhibit Hall. E-Posters EB invites all poster authors to upload a PDF file of their poster for online viewing for EB attendees only after the meeting concludes. For your convenience, Mira Digital Publishing will have a booth in the registration area of the Anaheim Convention Center with a computer terminal and staff to assist you in uploading your file. Poster Printing Mira Digital Publishing will be offering poster printing services including on-site delivery of your poster directly to the Anaheim Convention Center for a fee starting at $60. Additional information will be included in your confirmation email and sent separately by Mira Digital Publishing with the file requirements and online order form.
