What is EB?

Experimental Biology is an annual meeting comprising of nearly 13,000 scientists and exhibitors representing six sponsoring societies and 18 guest societies.   General fields of study include anatomy, pathology, biochemistry, molecular biology, investigative pathology, nutrition, pharmacology and immunology.   EB 2010 is open to all members of the sponsoring and guest societies and nonmembers with interest in research and life sciences. The majority of scientists represent university and academic institutions as well as government agencies, non-profit organizations and private corporations.  

This multidisciplinary, scientific meeting features plenary and award lectures, pre-meeting workshops, oral and posters sessions, on-site career services and exhibits of an array of equipment, supplies and publications required for research labs and experimental study.

General Information

Q. What societies are meeting with EB 2010?

A. The American Association of Anatomists (AAA); The American Physiological Society (APS); American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB); American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP); American Society for Nutrition (ASN); and American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET).
 

Q. Where will Experimental Biology 2010 be held and what is the address?
A. The meeting will be held in the Anaheim Convention Center, 800 Convention Way, Anaheim, California, 92802.
 

Q. Whom do I contact for an invitation letter?
A. You must be registered for the Experimental Biology 2010 meeting to receive an invitation letter. As an international registrant you will be prompted for the invitation letter as you go through the online registration process.   If you need to register by fax or mail and need an invitation letter, please email your request to:
Leftwich@faseb.org. Include your complete name and mailing address.
 

Q. Do I have to be a member to attend?
A. No.  However, the registration fees are reduced for members.
 

Q. How can I become a member of one of the sponsoring societies and receive discounted registration fees and other member benefits?
A. You must apply for membership with one or more of the sponsoring or guest societies. Please contact the society office directly as each society handles membership differently.
 

Q. How many CME credits is it possible to earn by attending Experimental Biology 2010 and how do I claim them?
A. You may earn CME credits at this year's annual meeting for ASIP sessions only.  The final Program will include a listing of the ASIP CME sessions.  Poster sessions are not eligible for CME credits. For your convenience, you may obtain a CME form to record the sessions you attend on-site in the Meeting Management Office located in the Anaheim Convention Center. The online application will be available starting April 24, 2010. Please go to the Continuing Medical Education section of this website for more information.

Q. Where will the poster sessions be held?
A. The poster sessions will be held in the Convention Center.  Additional poster competitions will be held at the Hilton and Marriott hotels.  

Q. How soon can I get into the Exhibit Hall to set-up my poster? When must I remove my poster?
A. Posters must be hung between 7:00 AM and 8:30AM on the day of the presentation. Posters should be removed at 5:00 PM on the same day of the presentation. Posters will be removed from the boards and discarded if authors do not remove their posters.
 

Q. If I bring my children, are they permitted to attend educational and social events with me as well as visit the exhibits?
A. Yes. Parents or guardians may bring children under the age of 17 to educational and social events provided the children do not disrupt the event.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the exhibit hall.  Under no circumstances are children under the age of 12 allowed in the exhibit hall during exhibitor set up and dismantle times. 

 

Q. Whom should I contact to rent a meeting room or conduct a satellite/ancillary event during Experimental Biology 2010?
A. Visit the Experimental Biology website (www.experimentalbiology.org) and complete a request for a special function form located in the Special Events link.  The form will be available in late-September.  You may also send an email to eb@faseb.org

 

Q. Does the Meeting provide a service where I can advertise a scientific meeting?
A. Yes. Please submit your request to
eb@faseb.org to receive approval to display materials on our literature table in the registration area.
 

Q. Will transportation be provided between hotels and the Convention Center? Is there a fee?
A. The Hyatt Regency Hotel is the only property offering complimentary shuttle service to and from the Convention Center.  There will not be shuttle buses to any other hotel within the meeting block. All hotels are within a 15 minute walking distance to the center. Public transportation is available through the ART bus system (Anaheim Resort Transit).  Please click on the Travel Information section of the website for further information.
 

Q. Is there parking available at the Convention Center?
A. Yes. On-site private vehicle parking is available at the Anaheim Convention Center and many other public garages are located nearby.
 

Q. What is the expected meeting attendance?
A. We are expecting approximately 13,000, including exhibitors.
 

Q. Does the Convention Center offer assistance for visitors with disabilities and special needs and whom do I contact?
A. If you have a disability that will have an impact on your participation in the meeting, please contact us via email at
eb@faseb.org or by telephone at (301) 634-7010. We cannot ensure the availability of appropriate accommodations without prior notification.
 

Q. Is there a message center telephone number I can give my family/office in case of an emergency?
A. Yes. There will be a message center located in the Convention Center.  It will be open from Friday through Wednesday. The telephone number  will be published in the program and online at a later date.
 

Q. How can I find out if a colleague is attending the meeting and get a message to him or her?
A. There will be a message center located in the registration area where messages can be left for attendees. Registrants with an official badge may also check at the Registration Help Counter or the Information Counter to see if a colleague has registered for the meeting.
 

Q. Will there be a luggage/coat check available in the Convention Center?
A. Yes.  It will be located in the lobby. 

 

Q. Is there a business center available for making copies, sending faxes, etc.?
A. Yes. There is a business center in the Convention Center and in most hotels.
 

Q. Will airport shuttles be provided?
A. Experimental Biology will not be providing shuttle service, however, the Disneyland Resort Express does offer discounted transportation to EB attendees with a coupon, from LAX and John Wayne/Orange County airports.   More information is available onthe Travel Information page. 

 

Q. When is the abstract submission deadline?
A. Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 11:59PM EST.
 

Q. Will there be late breaking abstracts?
A. Yes. All late breaking submissions will be presented in poster sessions on Wednesday, April 28, 2010.
 

Q. Are there places to eat inside or near the Convention Center?
A. Yes. Concession stands will be open inside the Exhibit Hall Sunday-Tuesday. There will also be food stands in various locations throughout the Convention Center.  The Marriott and Hilton hotels also offer quick service food outlets and are conveniently located next to the Center.  

Exhibits

Q. I am interested in exhibiting at Experimental Biology 2010. Whom should I contact?

Q. When are the exhibits open?
A. The exhibits are open Sunday–Tuesday from 9:00AM–4:00PM.
 

Q. Is there an exhibit hall-only registration fee?
A. No. In order to visit the exhibits, you must register for the entire meeting.
 

Q. Are children allowed in the exhibit hall?
A. Yes. Children must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian in the exhibit hall.  Under no circumstances are children under the age of 12 allowed in the exhibit hall during set up and dismantle times.

Housing & Travel

Q. What are the headquarter hotels?
A. The co-headquarter hotels are the Hilton Anaheim and the Marriott Anaheim.


Q. When can we begin to reserve hotel rooms?
A. Registration for housing is now open. The housing deadline is March 19, 2010. We urge you to make your hotel reservation early to ensure the rate and hotel of your choice. Please email
eb@faseb.org if you have any questions or housing problems. 

 

Q. How do I make changes to my hotel reservation?
A. Prior to March 19, all changes and cancellations should be made directly with the Housing Bureau. After March 19, you can contact the hotel directly for changes and cancellations.
 

Q. Will I receive a confirmation from the hotel?
A. Once you have reserved a room, the Housing Bureau will send you a confirmation. You will not receive a separate confirmation from your assigned hotel.
 

Q. Which hotels will have complimentary shuttle service to the Convention Center?
A. Q. What is the hotel cancellation policy?
A. 
Prior to March 13, all changes and cancellations should be made directly with the housing bureau.  Beginning March 20 changes and cancellations should be made directly with the hotel.  There are no penalties for changes or cancellations prior to March 10.  Cancellations made between March 10 and 72 hours prior to your arrival date will be refunded less a processing fee of $35. Reservations cancelled within 72 hours of arrival will forfeit the deposit.

Q. Does the meeting have a roommate referral service?
A. Yes. A list of participants requesting roommates will be provided once you complete the online Room Sharing form.

Registration

 Q. How do I register for the meeting?
A. Registration can be submitted online, by fax, or mail. The early registration deadline is February 24, 2010. After that date the fees will increase and only online registrations are accepted. Avoid standing in line and register online prior to the meeting. Still undecided? You can register on-site at the meeting beginning on Friday, April 23.

Q. What does my registration fee include?
A. Your registration fee includes access to all Experimental Biology sponsored sessions, lectures, symposia, poster and oral presentations, the exhibit hall, online abstracts and the itinerary planner.  You will also receive a briefcase and a copy of the meeting program book.

Q. Do I have to pay registration fees if I submitted an abstract?
A. Yes. Submission of the abstract handling fee does not include the registration fee.

Q. Can someone else register another person?
A. Yes. As long as they can provide all of the necessary information and payment.

Q. Can I pay by credit card?
A. Yes. You may pay by credit card. The credit cards that we accept are MasterCard, Visa, and American Express.

Q. Will I receive my badge prior to traveling to Experimental Biology?
A. Yes, but only if you have a U.S. mailing address.   U.S. registrants will receive badges prior to the meeting if they registered before March 29.  International attendees will pick up their materials on-site.  

Q. I have pre-registered but have not received my badge. Who should I contact?

Q. I have lost my badge. What do I do?
A. You will be able to receive a replacement badge on-site at the Replacement Badge Counter
in the Registration area located in the Anaheim Convention Center.

Q. Where do I go for badge corrections?
A. Please visit the Replacement Badge Counter in the Registration area located in the Anaheim Convention Center.

Q. I have a question about my registration. Who should I contact?

Q. I’ve registered for Experimental Biology but unexpectedly cannot attend. May I send someone else in my place? If so, how would I go about making this substitution?
A. Please contact Josie Leftwich at

Q. What is the cancellation/refund policy?
A. A registration processing fee of $35 will be deducted for all refund requests. The deadline for canceling and receiving a refund less the processing fee is March 19, 2010. Requests must meet the following criteria to be processed:

  • Registrant’s original badge packet must be returned for cancellation to be processed.
  • Written requests must be accompanied by the registrant’s badge packet.
  • If the cancellation was made by e-mail, the badge and receipt must be received by March 19, 2010.
  • Emailed cancellations will not be processed until the registrant’s original badge packet is received.

After March 19, 2010 there will be no refunds or cancellations, including no-shows. Refunds will not be issued for incorrect category of registration or denied visas.
