General Information

Q Will EB 2017 distribute a printed program?
A No, EB 2017 has gone green and will not distribute a printed program.  The entire program will be available in advance of the meeting as a PDF on the meeting website and in the meeting app.  The meeting app will be available for downloading in March, 2017.
Q What societies are meeting with EB 2017?
A The Host Societies will be The American Association of Anatomists (AAA), The American Physiological Society (APS), American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP), American Society for Nutrition (ASN), and American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET).

Q Where will Experimental Biology 2017 be held and what is the address?

Q Do I have to be a member to attend?
A No. However, the registration fees are reduced for members.

Q How can I become a member of one of the host societies and receive discounted registration fees and other member benefits?
A You must apply for membership with one or more of the host or guest societies. Please contact the society office directly as each society handles membership differently. Click here for society information.

Q How many CME credits is it possible to earn by attending Experimental Biology 2017 and how do I claim them?

Q Where will the poster sessions be held?
A The poster sessions will be held in the McCormick Place Convention Center  (West Building).

Q If I bring my children, are they permitted to attend educational and social events with me as well as visit the exhibits?
A Yes. Parents or guardians may bring children under the age of 17 to educational and social events provided the children do not disrupt the event. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the exhibit hall. Under no circumstances are children under the age of 12 allowed in the exhibit hall during exhibitor set up and dismantle times. There is no Camp EB for children ages 6 months to 17 years old this year.  Choose Chicago has provided the following childcare referrals:

Q Whom should I contact to rent a meeting room or conduct a satellite/ancillary event during Experimental Biology 2017?
A Complete a Special Event Application form to have your event considered for placement at EB 2017. You may also review the event planning information on the Special Event Planning page.

Q Does the Meeting provide a service where I can advertise a scientific meeting?
A Yes. Please submit your request to management@experimentalbiology.org to receive approval to display materials on our literature table in the registration area.

Q Will transportation be provided between hotels and the Convention Center? Is there a fee?
A Transportation will be provided between the hotels and the Convention Center at no cost to attendees.

Q Is there parking available at the Convention Center?
A Yes. On-site private vehicle parking is available at the McCormick Place Convention Center  (West Building). Please visit the Registration page for more information.

Q What is the expected meeting attendance?
A We are expecting over 14,000, including exhibitors.

Q Does the Convention Center offer assistance for visitors with disabilities and special needs and whom do I contact?
A If you have a disability that will have an impact on your participation in the meeting, please contact us via email at management@experimentalbiology.org or by telephone at (301) 634-7010. We cannot ensure the availability of appropriate accommodations without prior notification.

Q Is there a message center telephone number I can give my family/office in case of an emergency?
A Yes. Please have your family/office contact the Meeting Management Office in case of emergency. It will be open from Friday through Wednesday. The telephone number will be published in the program and online at a later date.

Q How can I find out if a colleague is attending the meeting and get a message to him or her?
A There will be a message center located in the registration area where messages can be left for attendees. Registrants with an official badge may also check at the Registration Help Counter or the Information Counter to see if a colleague has registered for the meeting.

Q Will there be a luggage/coat check available in the Convention Center?
A Yes. It will be located near the shuttle pick-up/drop-off area.

Q Is there a business center available for making copies, sending faxes, etc.?
A Yes. There is a business center in the Convention Center and in most hotels.

Q Will airport shuttles be provided?
A Experimental Biology will not be providing airport shuttle service. Discounted transportation to EB attendees is available on the Registration page.

Q Will there be late breaking abstracts?
A Yes. All late breaking submissions will be presented in poster sessions on the last day.

Q Are there places to eat inside or near the Convention Center?
A Yes. There is a large food court inside the center.  There will also be concession stands open inside the Exhibit Hall Sunday-Tuesday. There will also be food stands in various locations throughout the Convention Center.

Q How do I register for the meeting?
A Registration can be submitted online, by fax, or mail. Please check the Registration page for the early registration deadline. After that date the fees will increase and only online registrations are accepted.
Q What does my registration fee include?
A Your registration fee includes access to all Experimental Biology sponsored sessions, lectures, symposia, poster and oral presentations, the exhibit hall, online abstracts and the itinerary planner. You will also receive a briefcase and a copy of the meeting program book.
Q Do I have to pay registration fees if I submitted an abstract?
A Yes. Submission of the abstract handling fee does not include the registration fee.
Q Can someone else register another person?
A Yes. As long as they can provide all of the necessary information and payment.
Q Can I pay by credit card?
A Yes. You may pay by credit card. The credit cards that we accept are MasterCard, Visa, and American Express.
Q Will I receive my badge prior to traveling to Experimental Biology?
A No. You will need to bring a copy of your confirmation letter to the Convention Center and pick up your badge in the registration area.
Q I have a question about my registration. Who should I contact?

Q I've registered for Experimental Biology but unexpectedly cannot attend. May I send someone else in my place? If so, how would I go about making this substitution?

Q What is the cancellation/refund policy?
A A registration processing fee of $50 will be deducted for all refund requests. The deadline for canceling and receiving a refund less the processing fee is posted on the Registration page. A written request received via email or mail must accompanied by the registrant's original confirmation letter.   Email cancellation requests to leftwich@faseb.org.  After the deadline for cancelling, there will be no refunds or cancellations, including no-shows.  Refunds will not be issued for incorrect category of registration or denied visas. 


Housing & Travel

Q What are the headquarter hotels?
A The co-headquarters hotels are the Hyatt Regency McCormick and Hilton Chicago.
Q When can we begin to reserve hotel rooms?
A Registration for housing will be open in mid-September.  The housing deadline is March 31, 2017.  We urge you to make your hotel reservation early to ensure the rate and hotel of your choice. Please email management@experimentalbiology.org if you have any questions or housing problems. You can book a room using the online reservation form once available.
Q How do I make changes to my hotel reservation?
A Prior to the housing deadline, all changes and cancellations should be made directly with the Housing Bureau. After the deadline, you can contact the hotel directly for changes and cancellations.
Q Will I receive a confirmation from the hotel?
A Once you have reserved a room, the Housing Bureau will send you a confirmation. You will not receive a separate confirmation from your assigned hotel.
Q What is the hotel cancellation policy?
A Prior to the deadline, all changes and cancellations should be made directly with the housing bureau. After the deadline, changes and cancellations should be made directly with the hotel. There are no penalties for changes or cancellations prior to the deadline.

Cancellations made between the deadline and 72 hours prior to your arrival date will be refunded less a processing fee. Reservations cancelled within 72 hours of arrival will forfeit the deposit.
Q Does the meeting have a roommate referral service?
A Yes. A list of participants requesting roommates will be provided once you complete the online Room Sharing form. It is the responsibility of the individual to email or call anyone with whom you wish to share a room.

The participating societies, FASEB, and their officers, employees, and agents assume no responsibility with respect to these services and accept no liabilities relative to the services.
Q Will there be a Hotel Shuttle provided to the Convention Center for attendees?
A Yes. There will be hotel shuttle service to the Convention Center.
Q What is UBER and how do I take advantage of the discount?
A Sign up for Uber with the promo code (coming soon) and receive a discount on rides to and from the conference. Once your account is created, simply download the free Uber app and login with the account information you created.
Not familiar with Uber? No problem! Uber is a mobile app that connects you with a driver at the tap of a button. Request a driver at any time using the Uber iPhone, Android, or Blackberry apps. Q When are the exhibits open?
A The exhibits are open Sunday-Tuesday from 9:00AM-4:00PM.
Q Is there an exhibit hall-only registration fee?
A No. In order to visit the exhibits, you must register for the entire meeting.
